About Us
A grass-roots organisation
Hogs On Film is a grass-roots organisation founded by Lea Grayston-Smith, a PhD student at the University of Reading. HOF began as a means of collecting data from gardens up and down the country, from people who love and cherish these illusive and fascinating creatures.
A lack of published information
We noticed that there is a lack of published information on what really happens at garden feeding stations, despite the fact there appears to be a growing community of animal lovers who are helping to feed and sustain their local hedgehog population.
Hogs on film aims to bridge this gap by collecting information from those who know their hedgehogs best, YOU!
Taking part is easy
Become a citizen scientist by recording your garden sightings and uploading your footage to help us understand what really happens after dark. Your observations provide vital data on hedgehog interactions and behaviour, so if you don’t already film, head to our filming tab to browse our available camera bundles!
Take a look at our findings so far in our 2023-2024 HOF Report.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Support us
Any donations would be so helpful as they allows us to maintain the website, manage the rising costs of video storage, and ensure we could continue producing meaningful research outputs for the citizen science community.
